Recently, the Hunan Provincial Medical Security Bureau and the Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security jointly issued the "Notice on Doing a Good Job in the Implementation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Decoction Pieces Newly Added to the 'Basic Medical Insurance, Work Injury Insurance, and Maternity Insurance Drug Catalog' in Hunan Province in 2022", clarifying that 551 eligible traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces will be officially added to the scope of medical insurance payment, and will be uniformly implemented throughout the province from October 1st, with a validity period of 3 years.

The notice states that the newly added traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces are divided into two parts: "traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces" and "non-traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces". Among them, there are 114 traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces and 437 non-traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces (including 299 Chinese medicine formula granules and 138 Chinese medicine ultrafine decoction pieces). Among the 551 newly added traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces, the personal payment ratio is set to 0, and 353 varieties are fully reimbursed under the medical insurance policy, accounting for 64% of the total number of newly added decoction pieces, effectively reducing the out of pocket burden of insured patients.
